Red Line World Champion takes the win first event of 2012 Monster Speedway season.
Reigning World Champion Greg Hancock led his fellow Monster Energy riders to an epic first meeting of the 2012 Speedway Grand Prix season as he tore up the field to win in awesome style in Auckland, New Zealand on Saturday.
The tour hit NZ and the stunning Western Springs Park for the first time but there was nothing mellow about the place on Saturday. The sound of sixteen 500cc beasts pierced the New Zealand skies and the riders served up a feast of intense action.

Red Line rider, Greg Hancock barely put a wheel wrong all night and he cruised to 22 points out of 24 to make sure Monster Energy was represented on the top step of the box.
The event was all about the Champ and he was sure pleased to grab the win in the season opener: “It has all been about the anticipation for this particular day. In the last three weeks, I’ve just wanted it to come.

“I was tired of talking about it and waiting to get here. I’ve travelled a long way. I’ve been to Europe and back and I’ve done a lot of travelling.
“But I’ve enjoyed my time here and it’s so satisfying to come away with a win from the first one. It has started out tremendously.”
