All the staff at Old Hall Performance ( Red Line Oil- Europe ) are keen Motorsport enthusiasts and the idea of a weekend at Silverstone Race Circuit was certainly no hardship for Sales Manager Lee Rushton. With a fantastic line up including British GT / Formula 3 / Formula Ford and even the Heritage Grand Touring Car Challenge the schedule was pretty exciting. There were also Volkswagen / Caterham and Ginetta series in constant action

Familiar Red Line customers were everywhere in almost every event but Lee spent the day as a guest of Garry Findlay, the name to watch in Formula Ford. Garry is making his mark in the scholarship class and took class wins across the board. New teams and new drivers have been flocking to the championship. These newcomers are clearly aware that to win races in Formula Ford, or even become British Champion, will give them greater credibility in the eyes of the motorsport community than any other junior single-seater category can offer. The Scholarship Cup allows less experienced drivers to compete at championship level in cars that are a year old or more, while still learning the circuits, race craft and getting to grips with the cars. This is not to say that Scholarship drivers are not competitive - previous years have witnessed podium places for Scholarship drivers, which of course attracted particular attention to their potential. The differing budgets of the various teams allow much less development and testing time for some drivers but in race one Garry Findlay took ninth place and the Scholarship Class some 13 seconds clear of his nearest class rival, Alex Jones. In the afternoon session there was a late-race moment for Findlay but he managed to regain the track without losing the lead of the Scholarship Class and finish 12th overall, just ahead of Jones, Palmer and Felix Scott.

A smiling Garry Findlay... he's just been promised a ride in the Red Line van.

Champagne & more trophies... Not a bad days work for Team Findlay. Pictured ( Left - Right ) are Garry Findlay, Lee Rushton, Peter Newell and Garry Findlay Snr.

A great experience and a view you just can't buy. The British GT line up prepare to do battle... as seen from my hot seat in the pit lane.

Thanks to all at Garry Findlay Racing and my fellow guests for a very enjoyable day
